The leader of the National Freedom Front, MP Wimal Weerawinsha, stated in Parliament today (22) that the group of 22 Pentagon officers who arrived suddenly in two US military planes were attempting to streamline all the information elicited from the intelligence agencies of Sri Lanka under the charge of the American Central Intelligence Agency.
MP Weerawansa emphasized that they have met the President, the Defense Secretary, and the intelligence agencies, and what they discussed and decided should be disclosed to the House and the country.
The MP further said
“A group of 22 Pentagon officials arrived in Sri Lanka on two American planes. It was reported in the media that they met with the president, the defense secretary, and the heads of the intelligence agencies.
Nevertheless, within a short time, they left the country. The leader of that group was an American head of the defence department called Jedidiah P. Royal
We have to know whether these people came through the VVIP lounge.
This is the route the president uses. Also, as far as we know, the immigration formalities of these people have been handled properly.
Also, these officers have gone to the State Intelligence Office. The intelligence officers were disarmed, and the Americans walked into the office with weapons.
As far as we know, these officials are trying to put all the information of Sri Lanka’s intelligence agencies under the purview of the American Central Intelligence Service, and he is the one who decides on priorities. It happened in this country in 2001. This was stopped in 2004. There have been Easter attacks. There have been more attacks. Why did these people come to such a country? What did you talk about with them? This House should know. There are 225 public representatives here. No one here knows. When asked at the airport, they say it’s a top-secret mission. We earnestly request that the president or the prime minister come and present the matter to this assembly as to what was discussed and decided.
Replying the chief government whip Prasanna Ranatunga said that he will make a statement about it in the Parliament shortly..
