President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced today that a new revelation regarding the Easter Sunday attacks will emerge in the coming days. The President made this statement while addressing a public election rally held in Dambulla.
He promised that all those responsible for the murders of innocent citizens would be brought to justice and that a safe environment would be created for ordinary people to live freely again. The President highlighted how politicians have often viewed only their own lives as valuable, disregarding the lives of ordinary people—a mentality he identified as the root cause of these tragedies.
He emphasized that accountability would be sought for unresolved cases, including the murder of Thajudeen, the killing of Lasantha Wickramatunga, and the disappearance of Ekneligoda. “We are ending the era where political authorities could harm citizens with impunity. To achieve this, we must bring all perpetrators to justice,” he stated.
Regarding the Easter Sunday attacks, the President reassured the public: “The investigation is ongoing. Don’t worry. You will receive positive news on this, likely tomorrow or the day after. I promise you.”
