Borella Sirisumana Thero, the chief of Kadawata Siriaranthaka Samadhi Arana Vihara, who was accused of being involved in Thilini Priyamali’s transactions, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department this afternoon.
It is said that this suspect has been arrested in relation to the transactions allegedly made in connection with Thilini Priyamali, who is currently remanded for a financial fraud of several crores.
According to police sources, information has been received from the people who have complained that Priyamali has conspired with the Thera to deceive the people who got the money to invest in the existing businesses , which was run by Priyamali at the Colombo World Trade Center.
It is stated that Thilini, who claims to give gold bars as collateral for the money for businessmen who are willing to invest, it was said that those gold bars have been stored in the Kadawatha Temple of whre Boralle Sirisumana Thero lives. They later identified the bars that were given to the businessmen a were fake and made of brass and gold plated.
Sirisumana Thero is currently being interrogated and will be presented to the court in the future.
