The Kandy Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit has uncovered details regarding a massive drug racket in Kandy,conducted by a woman. The woman who is said to be the mistress of Dematagoda Chaminda, who is serving a death sentence, operates from Dubai .
According to information received, the Kandy Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit arrested 19 persons with 901 grams of heroin worth nearly Rs. 20 million.
Police said that five persons who had direct contact with the woman were among the suspects and the rest were their followers.
Police investigations have revealed that they had sold a gram of heroin for Rs. 20,000.00. It has been revealed that after crediting the woman’s bank account in Dubai, she informs one of the five main disciples of the place where the drugs are to be stored and accordingly places them at the city’s electricity poles, garbage bins, drains, etc. and informs the buyers.
