A JVP local council member is involved in a human smuggling racket, Manusha tells Parliament

Labor and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara revealed in Parliament that the mastermind behind a human smuggling racket that envisages sending Sri Lankan youths through Thailand for various illegal activities has been identified as a Janata Vimukti Peramuna member of the Ambalantota local council.

The Criminal Investigation Department is currently making inquiries in a bid to arrest him.

He said that most of the victims of this human trafficking racket are young people in the Hambantota district, and they are being exploited to engage in dangerous activities such as obtaining confidential information about people through computers.

According to a person who has been arrested, this mastermind has been identified, with the minister answering a question raised in Parliament today.

Further commenting, the Minister said that after the disclosure of the nature of politics in which this person is involved, the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna promised to help get this person arrested according to the existing law.

The minister pointed out that no such thing has happened so far, and the party has not given any information about him to the relevant authorities conducting investigations.

The Minister further told Parliament that it has been revealed that Nimal Jayasundara, who is considered a key person in the process of importing human dung as manure from China, will contest the Wattala local council under the JVP-sponsored JJB in the next local government election.
