Police Commission chairman’s welcome tour for Basil unwelcomed by the SJB

Nalin Bandara , The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) parliamentarian  questioned the behaviour of  Police Commission Chairman Chandra Fernando and it’s member M. P. Perera who went to  welcome former Minister Basil Rajapaksa at his arrival of Katunayake Airport yesterday morning. MP Bandra further wanted them oust from the police commission.

During to day Parliament budget debate MP Nalin Bandara  questioned the issue said how can the Police Commission be considered an independent body any more?

“ Police Commission is bound to be independent. Therefore, how could those members be present to welcome Basil?”

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene said new members will be appointed to the independent commissions soon. MP S. M. Marikkar questioned how come Basil Rajapaksa was allowed to use the VIP lounge,and given a Police escort ahead of his convoy.

Meanwhile SJB MP Dr Harsha De Silva who was was returning  from overseas  had tweeted that he was told by eyewitnesses that Police Commission chief Chandra Fernando not only visited to receive Basil Rajapaksa but he worshipped to him.
