Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa, Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party a partnering party of the ruling government says that there are more than 70,000 Covid vaccines have been misused due to political influence.

He revealed this addressing a meeting held at the Kandy District Secretariat.

He said it was regrettable that there was political interference that took place openly in Kurunegala, Moratuwa and Piliyandala during the vaccination and that people who had gone from Colombo to get vaccinated in Galle were exposed.

“At the beginning of the epidemic, we did not take steps to import vaccines. Orders were placed when the second wave began. Corruption and fraud are rampant. There are also frauds in Covid testing also. Vaccination of people over 60 is still a problem. There are two experienced health experts who represent the government in the Parliament. One of them is a WHO Adviser Professor. No one has been consulted for the Covid control efforts. ”
