Since the day of opening the schools 22 school children and 5 teachers in the Galle District have been diagnosed with the Covid virus,Galle District Epidemiologist Dr. Eranga Hettiarachchi said.
According to the local epidemiologist,The patients have been reported from Elpitiya, Induruwa and Galle divisions, he said. The Galle District Regional Epidemiologist said that there are 17 children studying at an international school in Bentota and that they are currently being taught through online education.
Commenting on this, he said:
“We need to pay more attention to the children who are learning in the primary classes. Even at school, those children do not wear masks properly. Even wearing masks is difficult for those children. ”
“Therefore, parents have a great responsibility here. Do not send children to school with symptoms such as the flu and the common cold. Go to a district hospital and get a rapid antigen test to see if you have been infected with the Covidi virus. If one child in the class is infected with Covid, the children in that class are at risk of contracting the Covid virus. ”
