The proposed 21st amendment to the constitution that envisaged drastic changes to presidential powers failed to come up before the Cabinet this week. Cabinet sources said.
Although Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe was quite confident in presenting the draft legislation to the Ministers, the idea was dropped, later owing to a decision taken at a meeting before the meeting of the Cabinet of ministers.
Meanwhile, Cabinet has approved a proposal to issue soft liquor licenses to all establishments registered under the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Minister Harin Fernando said.
The Cabinet has also approved a four-day week for public servants except for Health, Power, Energy, Defence and Education sectors.
