140 secondary schools in the Jaffna and Vavuniya districts of the Northern Province will be closed indefinitely from today (16), the Northern Provincial Director of Education S. Udayakumar said.

The Director of Education said that the decision was taken due to the fact that some of the students in those schools became infected with Covid.

Of the schools that have been closed, 135 are in the Jaffna district and five are in the Vavuniya district.
