The Galle Fisheries Harbor Manager Chathuranga Adhikaram stated that 139 multi-day fishing vessels at the Galle Fisheries Harbor are in line to obtain diesel today (15). He further stated taht due the shortage only 04 multi-day vessels can be supplied with diesel per day.
Due to this situation, fishermen who go to sea in multi-day vessels are unable to go to sea on time, said the Fisheries Manager.
The Galle fishing harbor receives three stocks of 6400 liters of diesel per day, he said. The Galle Fisheries Harbor had received only one consignment of diesel yesterday (14), the Fisheries Harbor Manager said.
The Galle Fisheries Harbor Manager said that there are about 750 multi-day trawlers going out to sea from the Galle Fisheries Harbor and that the price of fish has also increased due to this situation.
The wholesale price of the Galle Fisheries Harbor has increased to Rs. 650-700 per kilo and the wholesale price of linna has increased to Rs. 580 per kilo.
