Government Medical Officers Association says that the Health Ministry’s steps to provide 13,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the parents of health workers in the Western Province is less than 1 per cent of the total doses currently given. , said the Secretary of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, Dr Senel Fernando. In a statement issued to the media, Dr Senal Fernando said that it was not a privilege but a technical measure to prevent the spread of the disease.

The press release issued by Dr Senel Fernando states as follows.
Vaccination is expected to play a crucial role in controlling corona.
Where by strategically activating the vaccine
01. To reduce the number of deaths
02. It can also reduce the spread of the disease.

It has been 4 months since the vaccination for the corona epidemic. So far nearly 2 million doses have been given. Since last March, the Government Medical Officers’ Association has been requesting that the families of health workers be vaccinated.

With the onset of the fourth corona wave, a large number of patients came to the hospitals and it was advisable for us to strategically vaccinate the health workers in those hospitals to prevent the spread of the disease in their families and in the areas where they live.

Based on these facts, the Ministry of Health took action to provide 13000 doses of vaccines to the parents of health workers living in the Western Province. This is less than 1% of the total dose currently given. It is not a privilege but a technical measure taken strategically to prevent the spread of the disease.
But we have observed the actions of some so-called union leaders, interpreting these technical measures as a privilege for health workers.
Thank you,
Believe it or not
Dr Senal Fernando
