Dr. Atapattu, who has answered a media query, states that 29 of these doctors are anesthesiologists.
Recently, the only anesthesiologist at Hambantota Hospital went abroad and the Government Medical Officers Association held a press conference yesterday (14) and mentioned that 274 specialist doctors have left the country in the last year till May 31st.
Also, during that time, 842 general doctors have left the country and due to this situation, a serious crisis may be created in the country’s health service in the future.
