The administration of the University of Peradeniya suspended the classes yesterday (09) of the classes of 11 second-year students of the Faculty of Management of Peradeniya University due to an incident of brutally torturing a group of new students with rotten rice.
It has been alleged that the banned students took a group of new students who entered the faculty of management to the university’s Akbar hostel in the last 5 days and gave them rotten rice to eat and abused them with harsh words.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Peradeniya Prof. Terence Madujith said that a group of second-year students who abused new students have been temporarily banned from classes and a formal investigation will be conducted and further action will be taken.
