It was almost a decade ago. I came to know about him. As soon I knew that he is in Sri Lanka those days I went to get some details about his treatments. The soft-spoken Indian Touch healer Dr. Sashikant Seth was busy treating a local Buddhist Priest in his hotel room at a Hotel in Bambalapitiya. His wife Dr. Mrs. Seth who is also practicing Touch healing therapy told me that her husband was treating one of his Patients a Buddhist Priest from outstation for Diabetes by using the Touch healing therapy. According to her that Priest had managed to reduce his blood sugar level because of the treatment given by Dr. Seth.
An hour later after finishing his treatment given to the Priest Dr. Shashikant Seth had also joined us and shown a written letter given by that Buddhist priest praising him for giving relief for his ailment. This is one of the examples of the principal character of our story Dr. Seth who passed away last week in Mumbai, India at the age of 79 years after suffering from a fracture on his leg, Although some representing the Western medicine-based society may argue regarding the effectiveness of the Touch heal therapy which is free from oral medicine, But those who believe the therapy will always remember the effectiveness of Dr. Seth’s treatment.
Both here and abroad as well as in India Dr Seth had treated the poor free of charge and he was keen to go to outstation villages to conduct clinics for the communities who were with economic hardships. Abroad he had charged a nominal fee from the patients just to cover the expenses he had told me once
Dr. Seth has treated and conducted training courses on how to treat Physical and Mental ailments including frozen shoulder, Spondylosis, Migraine, Back, Hand, and Leg pain along with heart problems, Stomach Disorders, Diabetes, Asthma, Cold, Stress and fertility problems by using touch healing therapy, He had developed a herbal treatment for malaria and an Inhaler using Camphor called “Jeevan Prabha” for respiratory illnesses as well. As a touch healer, he was a frequent visitor to Sri Lanka since the 1990s where he was considered as his second home and I had privileged to meet him and publish articles on his treatment on many occasions.
Dr. Shashikanth Seth has always believed in Buddhism and he wanted us to follow the path of Buddhism whenever he speaks on Lord Buddha. He was a frequent visitor to the international contemporary medicine congress held in Colombo annually. But due to an ailment he was not able to attend the congress held last November We will dearly miss him in future. In the end, would like to wish him the supreme bliss of Nibbana.
