President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has called for a party leaders’ meeting tomorrow (April 10) to discuss the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the United States.
Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Bimal Ratnayake, announced this in an official statement. He added that 12 opposition party leaders had requested a meeting with the President earlier today (April 9) to address their concerns about the tariffs.
Meanwhile, a high-profile delegation met with representatives from the U.S. Department of Trade last night. Both sides agreed to work together toward securing certain relief measures in the future.
The President’s meeting is expected to focus on the economic impact of the tariffs and possible steps to protect local industries.
