Leader of the 43 Division Patali Champika Ranawaka says that the Rajapaksa family members should stop interfering in the importation of oil and gas, especially at a time when the fuel crisis created by the foreign reserves crisis has reached a highest level. He further stated at a media briefing held on today that there should be a formal procurement process in the country but the government has stopped buying oil from registered and trying to buy fuel from various unreliable sources instead.

He further stated that the process of purchasing oil should be carried out in an open manner with the allied countries. Mr. Ranawaka further revealed that a company that had recently intervened to bring crude oil to Sri Lanka was a company that had earlier helped a member of the Rajapaksa family to launch satellites. He pointed out that this is why we need to be vigilant.

“For this crisis, the responsible parties must now go home. In particular, the Rajapaksas, including President Rajapaksa, the creators of this crisis, must go home. This is not without solutions. But until these Rajapaksas are in power, the Rajapaksas’ henchmen will run these institutions, including the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Electricity Board, until the Rajapaksas make key decisions in the regime. There is no trust in the hearts of the people, in foreign countries, or in the minds of the three million foreign workers who have gone from our country to foreign countries.

The Constitution states that the President should resign immediately without taking the people to the place where the country is exploding and without shedding blood, who will be appointed after his resignation. Parliament should be convened within 24 hours and a President should be elected by secret ballot. Also, we do not see any fault in creating an all party government, formulating a definite program, establishing an Independent Election Commission and an election process, setting dates and going to the polls.

Therefore, the Rajapaksas should give up the plundered wealth and leave this power. But it is clear that they will not do it . They should be sacked. For that, another people’s movement must now be launched non-violent and democratically. At this juncture everyone has a responsibility to form an all party government in Parliament and move forward. The Prime Minister should take the initiative for that. If he does not take the initiative, we will appoint a Prime Minister who will be able to do so and declare that we will continue to do so in the future.
