A representative of coalition party of the government told Lankasara that they are yet to given an appointment to meet the President for a discussion over the controversial agreement of Yugadhanavi Power plant with the American Energy company, New Fortress.

It is reported that the Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa gave a lengthy statement to the Prime Minister regarding the agreement to transfer 40% of the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi power plant to an American company during the discussion with the Prime Minister which was postponed once again.

Following the discussion, Secretary of the People’s Front Sagara Kariyawasam, Attorney-at-Law, told the media that after this explanation, former President Maithripala Sirisena, Cabinet Ministers Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara and others did not take any further action in this regard. Now that they have corrected the misunderstanding.

However, a representative of another government party who made a statement in this regard explained that he was silent because he realized that saying anything in that environment was useless.

Accordingly, they have finally decided to meet the President and clarify the agreement.

However, the President has not yet given this crucial discussion to the other party leaders in the government.

The other parties say that the purpose of the discussion is to clarify the President’s position on this catastrophic decision and how he will act in the future if such a situation arises.

A leading representative of other government parties told Lankasara that a reminder letter would be sent to the President regarding this meeting, which is very important to him politically, and that a special discussion would be held between the party leaders again tomorrow.

However, the Secretary of the People’s Front, Attorney-at-Law Kariyawasam had told the media that the opposition of the minority parties should not be taken into consideration in such cases and that the agreement should be implemented regardless of the hypocrites who oppose it.
