Inquiry against two state officials who criticized the President

The State Ministry of Transport has ordered the authorities of the National Transport Medical Institute to conduct disciplinary inquiries into two employees who criticized the President in social media.

It is reported that on the instructions of state minister Dilum Amunugama, an additional secretary of the ministry has issued an order to take disciplinary action.

Accordingly, the two employees have been referred for a disciplinary inquiry and have been transferred to the head office of the National Transport Medical Institute in Nugegoda until the investigation is completed.

When Lankasara contacted, State Minister, Dilum Amunugama he said since alleged employees are Executives of the said institute and according to the code of conduct of state employees they cannot criticise government at public.

Therefore, the Ministry will conduct a disciplinary inquiry into them and find out whether they have violated the relevant Code of Conduct.

However, no action has been taken to punish or dismiss them as published on social media minister further stated. “If we wanted to punish or sack them Secretary to the Ministry or the Chairman of the Transport Medical Institutions could have done so. But we are not intend to do so.” he said.

Accordingly, they were temporarily attached to the Head Office in Nugegoda until the disciplinary inquiry concluded , Minister Amunugama told Lankasara.
