The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says that Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar stated that India will always intervene to find a meaningful devolution of power to the Tamil people in Sri Lanka and to work towards a lasting political solution.
The Indian External Affairs Minister made this statement during a discussion with the TNA leader R. Sampanthan and two other parliamentarians at the Indian High Commission yesterday (07) morning, the TNA said.
They also said that when the Indian Foreign Minister met the President and the Prime Minister he had requested them to not repeal the 13th Amendment to the Constitution and to continue with the provincial and local government elections.
According to the TNA, the Minister in the discussions with the Government Representatives had stated that India will also continue to assist in the development of the North and East and will work for the welfare of the people affected by the war.
