Suspected Shooter in Middeniya Kajja’s Murder Arrested

The suspected shooter in the murder of Aruna Vidanagamage, also known as Meegasare Kajja, and his two children, aged 6 and 9, in the Middeniya Police Division on February 18 has been arrested, the police investigation department confirmed.

The arrest was made following the interrogation of suspects previously taken into custody. Police also recovered the motorcycle used in the crime from a quarry in the area.

The triple murder occurred near Kadewatta Junction in the Middeniya Police Division on the night of February 18, using a T-56 firearm.

Aruna Vidanagamage, 39, was riding a motorcycle when he was shot and died on the spot.

With this latest arrest, a total of eight suspects have been taken into custody, including two police constables and two former army soldiers who had initially deserted the army and later legally left the service.

Middeniya Police and the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau are continuing their investigations.
