Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has denied any conflict between herself and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, expressing sympathy for those spreading such rumors.

Speaking at a public gathering in Dehiwala, the Prime Minister stated, “These days, some people seem particularly good at lying and creating stories as usual. On my way here, I saw news reports that have been circulating for a while, claiming that President Anura and I are in a serious conflict and no longer on speaking terms.”

She continued, “When I appointed the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, I realized he was not the person I wanted. I was upset and had a disagreement with Comrade Anura, but he proceeded to appoint who he thought was right without considering my opinion. People seem to think they know how we made decisions behind closed doors.”

“Honestly, how can they say that? Maybe that’s what they hope for, but sorry, it’s just not true. Brother Anura and I discussed everything and made the decision together. Even saying this feels strange, but it’s the truth.”
