President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has called for creating a single service window by integrating all related r government agencies including the Sri Lanka customs to support the export sector. He emphasized the need for digitization and improving the efficiency of government agencies involved in exports.
The president made these statements during a discussion with senior officials from the Export Development Board and exporters at the Presidential Secretariat. The government aims to create economic independence for the country, and President Dissanayake stated that he expects full support from the country’s exporters.
The president also highlighted plans to lower energy prices, promote foreign projects, and improve access to international markets with the help of ambassadors. He mentioned that the government is also focusing on restructuring services to better support exporters.
“We expect the strong support and cooperation of everyone in the export field to achieve these goals in a short time,” the president added.
Exporters from various sectors, including construction, logistics, fish exports, information technology, gems and jewelry, printing, glass and ceramics, and spices, participated in the meeting. They discussed industry-specific and general issues in the export sector and possible solutions.
The government’s plans to boost export income include promoting investments, creating proper regulations, advancing research and development, improving infrastructure, raising industry productivity, expanding market access, and offering tax incentives. The focus is also on digitization to support these goals.
Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman of the Export Development Board, along with senior officials, was also present at the discussion.
