Investigators have bee revealed that the arrested retired Major General Ranaraja Ranawaka over the allegation of human trafficking to Russia for mercenaries have pretended in front of people as Prasanna Ranawaka who was a reputed retired Major General.
The suspect was arrested in Kurunegala Lake Circle last Wednesday (08) as the mastermind of sending retired army soldiers to work as mercenaries as Russian mercenary workers.

He first introduced himself as Major General Prasanna Ranawaka while recruiting retired army soldiers as mercenaries for the Russian army. Traffickers have been able to secure most of these ex-servicemen based on their trust in that particular reputed ex-officer.

However, in a further investigation conducted this morning (09), it was revealed that the Criminal Investigation Department had also misled this person. The smuggler is retired Major General Nethakandure Ranaraja Ranawaka of Arachchila.
Following the interrogations, he was produced to the Negombo magistrate and remanded till the 16th of May.
