The Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court has ordered the release on bail of Sujith Kumara, related to the case involving the supply and purchase of substandard antibody vaccines with forged documents. He served as the stock controller of the medical supplies department in connection with the incident.
The court decision comes amidst the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the substandard human immunoglobulin case. The other five suspects involved in the incident, namely Health Ministry Secretary Janaka Sri Chandragupta, Sugath Janaka Fernando (owner of the supplying company), Dr. Kapila Wickramanayake (former director of the medical supply division), Shantini Solomon (assistant director of the medical supply division), and Neran Dhananjaya (accountant of the medical supply division), along with Deputy Director HB Herath, have been ordered to be remanded until the 15th.
