Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa has come forward to save the life of Sri Lankan badminton player Oshadhi Purnima Kuruppu who is currently being treated at the Maharagama Hope Hospital for leukemia.

She last won a silver medal for Sri Lanka in badminton at the SAG Games in Kathmandu, Nepal last November.

The Minister of Sports visited Oshadhi Purnima Kuruppu at the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama yesterday (24).

Oshadhi Purnima needs Rs. 10 million for life-saving treatment and her relatives have started collecting that money through social media and privately.

Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa came forward to find the remaining money for her surgery. The Minister intends to find the money by contacting private companies.

Oshadhi, who has been representing the national badminton team since 2005, is a player who has won many victories for the country.
