Sri Lanka Wins Two Bronze Medals in 2023 Asian Athletics Championships

Gayantika Abeyratne and Dilhani Siyatrage bring home medals from Bangkok

On the opening day of the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand, Sri Lanka’s Gayantika Abeyratne and Dilhani Siyatrage won bronze medals.

Abeyratne finished the women’s 1500 meters event in 4 minutes 14.39 seconds, securing third place in the competition.

Meanwhile, Siyatrage won the bronze medal in the women’s javelin event, throwing the javelin with a distance of 60.93 meters.

In addition to the two medal winners, Sri Lanka also had athletes qualifying for the finals of other events.

Aruna Darshan and Rajitha Rajakaruna qualified for the men’s 400m final, with Darshan finishing the race in 45.70 seconds and Rajakaruna in 46.12 seconds.

Nadisha Ramanayake also qualified for the finals of the women’s 400m event, completing the race with a time of 59.06 seconds.
