It has been decided to assign government seats in the parliament for two parliamentarians Diana Gamage and Aravinda Kumar at the request of the government.

Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando made this request to the Speaker, Parliamentary Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando said.

He also said that steps have been taken to assign other seats in the opposition for the six other members of the opposition who voted in favor of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

However, the Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella recently wrote a letter to the Speaker requesting that the nine members of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya who voted in favor of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution be given government seats in Parliament.
