A young woman, posing as a passenger, assaulted a three-wheel driver by striking him on the head with a hammer and subsequently stole his gold necklace.
The incident reportedly took place in Ankumbura Pallegama area.
The twenty-two-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime. Authorities recovered the stolen gold necklace, valued at one and a half lakh manas. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court today (16) to face charges related to the assault and theft.
