UK Records Show a Single Director as Sri Lanka’s SEC Issues Scam Alert
As the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) warns the public against dealings with Blue Ocean Securities Ltd, new information from UK company records sheds light on the little-known entity behind the operation.
According to filings at UK Companies House, Blue Ocean Securities Ltd was incorporated only recently, on 7 November 2025, and lists just one officer.
A One-Person Company
The sole director is:
Name: Tamer Abbas
Role: Director (active)
Date of Birth: November 1975
Nationality: American
Country of Residence: United Kingdom
Registered Office Address:
1 Primrose Street, London EC2A 2EX, a corporate office location commonly used by firms providing virtual or serviced addresses.
There are no additional directors, no resignations, and no publicly disclosed beneficial owners beyond the basic statutory minimum. No financial statements exist yet due to the company’s extremely recent incorporation.
Regulators Raise Concerns
The Sri Lankan SEC has stated that Blue Ocean Securities is not licensed to trade securities in Sri Lanka and that its self-described Chief Analyst and assistant are not registered investment advisors.
A check of the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Register also shows no record of the company being authorised to provide investment services in the United Kingdom.
The SEC has urged investors not to deposit funds, not to respond to promotional WhatsApp groups, and to transact only through properly licensed stockbrokers with valid CDS accounts.
A Corporate Footprint That Raises Questions
The company’s structure—single director, serviced-office address, no regulatory authorisation, and an incorporation date less than a month old—has prompted concerns among investor-protection officials.
Blue Ocean Securities Ltd does not appear to have an active website, published phone number, or any public corporate disclosures beyond the basic Companies House listing.
Disclaimer
Attempts to contact Mr. Tamer Abbas directly for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
No response was received through the company’s registered address, and no alternative contact details were available in public filings.
