Victim of the Fatal Shooting in Battaramulla Dies

A fatal shooting incident occurred in Battaramulla today (25), resulting in the death of the injured individual. The victim, identified as Janaka Pushpakumara (44) and a resident of Korambe, Battaramulla, succumbed to his injuries after being shot by two unidentified assailants who arrived on a motorcycle in the Korambe area of Thalangama.

According to police reports, Janaka Pushpakumara was the brother of Korambe Vatte Bunty, a member of an organized crime gang who is reportedly evading authorities by being abroad.

The incident unfolded when Janaka Pushpakumara had travelled to the Battaramulla area in a three-wheeler to collect interest payments. Upon his return home, the two assailants on a motorcycle approached him and fired shots using a pistol. They quickly fled the scene after the attack.

Janaka Pushpakumara was gravely injured in the shooting and was subsequently transported to the Colombo National Hospital for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
