11 Sri Lankans belonging to two families who were stranded in the Gaza Strip returned to Sri Lanka this morning (05).
Earlier, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Cairo, in coordination with the Egyptian authorities and the Sri Lankan representative in Ramallah facilitated the entry of the 11 Sri Lankans stranded in Gaza into Egypt through the Rafah border crossing, 320 km from Cairo.
A group of embassy officials had received them on the Egyptian side of the Rafah border on Friday (03) and arranged to provide transportation to Cairo to facilitate their arrival in Sri Lanka.
This group, which arrived in Egypt, arrived in Sri Lanka today (05) by air.
It is reported that 17 Sri Lankans have been living in the Gaza Strip and four of them have not been able to leave their place of stay due to the current situation.
