Jaffna District Secretary Kanapathipillai Mahesan said yesterday (12) that the travel restrictions imposed on the island areas in Jaffna have been relaxed due to the Deepavali festival but the travels of the islanders are still being somewhat restricted.
He said that steps will be taken to provide more internet facilities to the island areas with the assistance of the Navy and the Telecom as banking activities have been disrupted due to the poor internet facilities in the island areas of Jaffna, especially in Delft Island.
He said that although corona patients have not been found in the Jaffna Islands so far, they are keeping a close watch on them.
