The Attorney General has directed the Police Chief to remove Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennekoon from the present position as the Senior DIG Western Province and transfer him to another area immediately.

The AG has directed the IGP to effect the transfer immediately since Tennekoon was reportedly trying to interfere with the investigations relating to the Gota Gama attack on May 9.

The CID has already recorded statements from many senior Police officers, including Dehabndu Tennekoon, on the attack launched on the Maina Go Gama and Gota Go Gama on May 9.
