Physical Training Instructor of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa Arrested on Drug-related Charges

A former commando soldier, purportedly employed as a physical training instructor for former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, has been apprehended by the CID on drug-related charges.

Investigations into the matter have revealed that the ex-commando, who was discharged from the army due to disciplinary infractions, subsequently transitioned into the underworld and became involved in drug trafficking. The individual was reportedly found in possession of two grams of heroin at the time of arrest.

Authorities further disclosed that the former soldier, known for his marksmanship and ranked among the top ten proficient soldiers in commando training, is now under scrutiny for potential involvement in underworld-related activities, including suspected connections to homicides.

Following the acquisition of detention orders from the court, law enforcement officials have initiated further investigations into the individual’s background and alleged criminal activities. Led by Police Inspector Weeraratne, Sub-Inspector Bandara, and Police Sergeant 32874 Jayawardena, the Divisional Crime Investigation Unit, under the guidance of Chief Inspector Tilak Samaranayake, is diligently pursuing leads and gathering evidence related to the case.
