The Puvarasankulam Police have arrested three youths who are suspected of attacking a vehicle that TNA Vanni district MP S. Nohardalingam was travelling in. The Puvarasankulam Police have now handed over the youth to the Vavuniya Police.
While the MP was returning to Vavuniya from Mannar, a group of youths had blocked his vehicle and attacked him with stones and clubs in the Katpahapuram 4th mile post area in Vavuniya.
The youths had fled after the police officers who were guarding the MP had fired into the air and three youths were arrested when the incident was reported to the Puvarasankulam Police.The vehicle in which the MP was traveling was damaged due to the attack.
Vavuniya Police have taken steps to produce the arrested youths before the Vavuniya Magistrate’s Court.
