The swearing-in of the new Cabinet delayed until the return !

The appointment of the new cabinet, which has been delayed for numerous reasons, will take place immediately after the President returns to the country following the funeral of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth.

Government sources indicated that the swearing in of the new cabinet must take place between the 20th and 23rd of this month, and if it fails to swear in by that time, the existence of the government may face a serious crisis.

Insiders are of the view that only Namal Rajapaksa would be denied a ministry from among those nominated to the Cabinet. Although the SLLPP seniors exerted influence to obtain a ministerial position for Namal, another group vehemently opposed the move, stating that this would not be the opportune moment for him to be sworn in as a minister.
