The criminal who set fire at a student of Ampitiya in front of his father was arrested today mornig by a special investigation team deployed by the Senior Deputy Inspector Gerneral of the Central Province.
The suspect was a 26-year-old man named Pathum Malith , a resident of Ampitiya.
The suspect who was said to have left the area was arrested while hiding in a forested area called Semaneriyawatta in Ampitiya.
The suspect was arrested with a bag contained a hand grenade and a bottle containing a liquid similar to gasoline Police said.
Although the crime of burning this child was committed on the night of the 26th, it was not revealed due to the intimidation of the criminals. In connection with that, after it was revealed with great emphasis by the media yesterday and today, 04 investigation teams were deployed today under the supervision of the Central Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police to search for the criminal.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced to the courts.
