All trade union leaders will be required to declare their assets and liabilities according to a decision taken by the ministry of labour.

Though required by the 1975 Assets and Liabilities Act for all trade union leaders to declare their assets before taking up positions, the law was not in force up-to-date.

However, now that there is reliable information that the trade union leaders receive funds and other privileges from external sources, the government has decided to use the law to investigate such instances.

Accordingly, all trade union leaders will be called upon to furnish their assets under the Assets and Liabilities Act before they take up official positions in the trade unions.
