The price of a cup of milk tea has been increased to Rs. 100, said Asela Sampath, President of the Restaurant Owners’ Association today (20).
He added that the increase was made taking into account the prices of gas, sugar and milk powder.
The Importers’ Association has taken steps to increase the price of milk powder by Rs. 600 per kilo. Accordingly, a 400 gram packet of milk powder has increased by Rs. 250 and its price is Rs. 790. With the increase in the price of a kilo of imported milk powder by 600 rupees, the new price is 1945 rupees.
The Restaurant Owners’ Association said it was making every effort to keep the price of milk tea stable despite the fact that milk powder could not be found at these prices and that the price of a cup of milk tea had gone up due to a number of constraints, including the gas crisis.
