A division has emerged within the TELO organization, based in Northern Sri Lanka, as of 26th, with one MP expressing willingness to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming Presidential Election.
The TELO organization is represented in Parliament by two MPs: its leader, Selvam Adeikalanathan, and another MP, Noah Radhalingam.
During a central committee meeting in Vavuniya, a resolution was passed, affirming the organization’s full support for the Tamil common candidate in the Presidential election.
However, two days later, TELO MP Noah Radhalingam met with President Ranil Wickremesinghe without notifying the organization and pledged his support to the President.
In response, the central committee of the TELO organization requested an explanation from Radhalingam regarding his decision. He refused to accept the letter and continued to support Ranil Wickremesinghe, further deepening the rift within the organization.
When questioned by journalists, TELO leader Selvam Adeikalanathan stated that he could not comment further, while Noah Radhalingam mentioned that he, along with several party members, would support President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
