Sweden School Shooting: 10 Dead, Including Suspected Gunman
At least 10 people have died in a shooting at an adult education centre in Orebro, Sweden, including the suspected attacker, police confirmed.
The tragic incident occurred at Risbergska Adult School, about 200km west of Stockholm, on Tuesday. Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson described it as the “worst mass shooting in the country’s history.”

What Happened?
The shooting took place around 12:30 p.m. local time. Police initially reported that five people were injured but later confirmed that around 10 people had died. Several others were taken to hospital, with at least four undergoing surgery.
Authorities believe the attacker acted alone and had no known criminal background. They ruled out terrorism as a motive but are investigating the case as attempted murder, arson, and aggravated weapons offences.
Eyewitness Accounts
Lena Warenmark, a teacher at the school, told local media she heard about 10 gunshots near her classroom. Many students and teachers fled the building, while others were locked inside for safety.
Nearby schools were temporarily placed on lockdown, and emergency services rushed to the scene.
Government and Police Response
Prime Minister Kristersson called the attack “a painful day for Sweden” and assured the public that schools would be safe to reopen the next day. Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer described the shooting as an “unimaginable tragedy.”
Local hospitals cleared emergency rooms to treat victims, with Orebro University Hospital confirming it had received five patients with gunshot wounds.
Investigation Ongoing
The police continue their investigations, and more updates are expected in the coming days. Authorities have urged the public to allow law enforcement to complete their work while assuring that there is no ongoing threat.
This incident has shocked Sweden, a country where school shootings are extremely rare.
