A lifeless wild elephant has been discovered in the Balaharuwa Gemunu Pura area, located within the jurisdiction of the Thanamalwila headquarters police.
The authorities suspect that the elephant was shot dead, prompting the initiation of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Preliminary findings reveal that the deceased wild elephant was approximately 10 years old and a fully-grown specimen.
Officials from the Galkotukanda Wildlife Office and the Thanamalwila Headquarters Police Station are currently conducting extensive investigations into the incident.
