The individual responsible for the murder of the Hatton Jumma Mosque watchman, who also broke into the mosque’s donation box and fled with money, was apprehended by the Samanture police yesterday (19) night while behaving suspiciously in Samanture city.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect is wanted by Saindamarudu, Kalmunai, and Samanthure police stations in connection to multiple murders. Notably, the individual had escaped from prison after serving time for a murder conviction.
Having stayed in the Hatton area for an extended period, the suspect’s photograph was circulated in the media regarding the mosque watchman’s murder and the subsequent theft from the donation box. Hatton police had issued alerts to police stations nationwide, leading to the successful arrest by the Samanture police. The suspect is now in custody for further legal proceedings.
