Former Director of State Intelligence Service (SIS), Retired Major General Suresh Salley, who is currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo after reportedly undertaking a hunger strike while in detention.

Hospital sources confirmed that Salley was brought to the National Hospital a short while ago and is presently under observation at the Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU).

The former intelligence chief is said to have commenced the hunger strike from yesterday while being held in CID custody protesting against inhuman treatments.
