In her petition, Kamani Rupika Priyangani, the widow of the deceased, seeks justice and a compensation of 200 million rupees from the police officers involved, including IGP Deshbandu Tennakoon.

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the respondents and scheduled the case for hearing on November 25th, signaling a step forward in addressing the grievance and seeking redress for the victim’s family.

Notably, the Attorney General’s Department has opted not to represent the respondent police officers involved in the Narammala police firing incident.
