According to Reuters, the body of President Raisi was flown from Tabriz to Tehran airport before heading to the holy Shi’ite Muslim city of Qom. The Iranian government has announced five days of mourning following the death of Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi. The five-day mourning was declared by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

President Raisi died in a helicopter crash in a mountainous area. In the crash, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, also lost his life. Iran’s President and Foreign Minister were killed on Sunday while travelling in a helicopter.

According to Iranian media, the military chief has appointed a commission to investigate the cause of the helicopter crash. The committee reportedly consists of military and technical experts to investigate the cause of the deadly crash. The committee’s members will visit the crash site for further investigation and collect evidence.

Iran has been struggling due to sanctions imposed by the US, and experts believe the death of the Iranian President could lead to political uncertainty in the country.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un expressed their condolences. However, the White House stated that the Iranian leader is responsible for supporting terrorist activities in the region and stated, “There is a lot of blood on his hands.”

National Security spokesman of the White House, John Kirby, said that the Iranian leader is responsible for “atrocious human rights violations in his own country.” “The arrests and the physical violence against hundreds of protesters, for instance,” Mr. Kirby said.
