Sunil Jayaratne, former Additional Director General of Sri Lanka Customs, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka. He assumed duties today (04) at the Authority’s head office in Katunayake.
Jayaratne has an extensive 37-year career with the Sri Lanka Customs Department, where he also served as Additional Director General. Additionally, he was the Customs Media Spokesperson for approximately three and a half years. He holds a postgraduate qualification in Customs Law and Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the University of Canberra, Australia.
Jayaratne succeeds G.S. Withanage, who was appointed by former Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva on January 18 of last year. At the time of his appointment, Withanage served as the Deputy Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority.
