A student has passed away yesterday (04) evening due to injuries caused by hitting his head in the electric fan while at school.
The victim, identified as Rajaratnam Sadursam, a 10th-year student at Pussellawa Hindu Vidyalaya, faced this incident after returning to the classroom after participating in an event marking World Children’s Day.
The unfortunate incident occurred around 1:40 PM and he was immediately rushed to Wahugupitiya Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Despite efforts to save him, the student’s condition remained critical, prompting his transfer to Gampola Base Hospital for specialized treatment.
Tragically, Rajaratnam Sadursam succumbed to his injuries and passed away around 4 PM while receiving medical care at Gampola Hospital.
Local authorities, including the Gampola police, are actively conducting investigations into this incident.
