A student from a popular boys’ school in the Katugastotha area was admitted to the Kandy National Hospital after being attacked by a group of fellow students with wicket sticks while taking the Mathematics exam for the Ordinary Level General Examination today (06).
The incident took place during the break after the Mathematics paper when the student went to the canteen. As a result of the assault, the student missed the opportunity to sit for the Mathematics 2nd paper held on the same day.
According to hospital sources, there is a possibility that the student may also miss the chance to appear for other papers related to the examination.
It has been revealed to the police that this student, who is said to be showing outstanding talent in the school, was attacked with wicket sticks by a group of students saying that they would not let him write the next question paper.
The injured student is currently receiving treatment in Ward No. 11 of the Kandy National Hospital, as confirmed by the hospital police.
